The Tips You Need to Care for Your Smile While You Have an Eating Disorder

Do you have an eating disorder? If so, your smile could be in grave danger, which is why our Wildwood Family & Cosmetic Dentistry team bly recommends that you seek professional help as soon as possible. The sooner you get the help you need, the sooner your body and oral health will be in tip-top shape once again. Until then, please take great care of your smile by doing the following things:

Keep up on oral hygiene: It is very important that you clean your smile every day by brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Please brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste and rinse your mouth with antibacterial mouthwash. You can floss your teeth with any flossing product of your choice. Please make sure that each cleaning tool you use has been approved by the American Dental Association.

Use baking soda:  Instead of brushing your teeth right after you throw up, please rinse your mouth with baking soda. Brushing your teeth will only worsen the effects the stomach acid has on your tooth enamel.

Visit your dentist:  Make sure you visit your dentist regularly for your dental cleanings and exams. Your dental visits will help you keep your smile in top-notch condition and will also help you prevent tooth decay and other dental issues.

If you keep up on oral hygiene, use baking soda, and visit your dentist, your smile should be able to fight the effects of your eating disorder in Toledo, Ohio.
